Cast of Characters
Note from the Director: If you haven't read the script before, the dialogue can be quite tongue in cheek in that way that very dated comments are actually quite 'saucy' by today's standards. We are looking for people who will be able to bring out this humour in a way that will have adults falling about laughing, while going over the children's heads!
Dorothy Gale
Aunt Em/Glinda The Good Witch of the North - This is scripted as 2 characters played by the same actress however it is anticipated that we will cast the roles to different actresses as per the film.
Uncle Henry/Emerald City Guard - As with Aunt Em, this role could be split to allow more people to be involved.
Zeke/Cowardly Lion
Hickory/Tin Woodsman
Hunk/Scarecrow
Miss Gulch/Wicked Witch of the West
Professor Marvel/The Wizard of Oz
Three Crows (Great cameos for chorus members - the crows are humerous bullies who appear with the Scarecrow)
Three Trees (another great trio of cameos for chorus members - the Apple Trees are written as 'catty' dancers who are very rude to anyone who doesn't appreciate them)
Adult Chorus:
Poppies & Snowmen (this is a corps of dancers so may include some of the Junior Cast dependant on dance skill - point work and ballet or showdance expericence would be beneficial)
The Ozians: Including Beauticians, Polishers, Manicurists, and the men and women of Oz
The Winkies: Including The Winkie General, Nikko, Jitterbug, Jitterbugs and Ghosts
The Junior Cast will play:
Citizens of Munchkinland: The Mayor, The Coroner, The Barrister, The Fiddler, The Braggart, 2 School Teachers, 3 City Fathers, 3 Tots, 3 Tough Guys
