WITHOUT

A PIANO?

SURELY NOT!

Braunton Productions is leaping into our new show and taking a chance on some new technology. And so far it's working out very nicely!

Leaping into the new year BP have taken on a new technical challenge in the form of 'RehearScore'.

Supplied by the right's holders (Josef Weinberger), RehearScore gives us the entire musical score for our show in computer form. So at a very basic level it means we can hold all our rehearsals without the need for a piano - just a laptop and a couple of speakers!

But that's not all. It also gives us complete control over the playing speed (something which our dancers and choreographers have found a real blessing!) and, of course, consistent tempo and tune - no longer can the choreographers complain that "...it wasn't that fast last time..."!

When it comes to teaching the singing, it also gives us the ability to split out all the harmony and musical parts. For example, if the cast is learning a song with 4-part harmony, we can play the whole thing, any of the individual parts and combinations of those parts.

And the key thing to remember here is that ANYONE can use it. You don't need to be able to play, or even READ music to get the most out of it's simple system... ANYONE can press 'PLAY'!

In the end, we don't intend for systems like 'RehearScore' to replace the traditional rehearsal pianist, but Braunton Productions has developed a strong reputation for trying new things, on stage and off. Now we're doing it again!

Here's to a future of trying new things!
