It looks spooky, and it IS spooky! I first saw The Woman in Black in the West End and twice more since - in Plymouth and when it visited the Queen's Theatre here in Barnstaple. It scared me every time!
It's the second longest running play in London (after 'The Mousetrap').
It's got just 2 guys in it, who unfold the story by portraying each of the characters we meet on the way.
It is incredibly atmospheric and uses sound effects to immerse you in the dark and brooding atmosphere! And then it scares the pants off you!!
The first starts slowly, but has lots of funny moments. It's the second act that, having lulled you into a false sense of security, scoops you up and shakes you til you scream!
I particularly enjoyed my last visit to see it when I dragged along Jake, Kathryn and Gillian - who lept about a foot in the air at one point! Tee Hee!
If you get the chance to see it, it's really a great show - maybe take clean underwear!
