After a long stressful week, I was tempted to just pull a sickie and not go to the Theatre on Friday Night. But feeling a sense of duty I went to support my good friend Gill who had asked me to go. What can I say? Gill didn't let me down.
From start to finish I was thoroughly impressed with the show and the talents of the dance school. The numbers ranged from great to awesom and even the usually repetative 'juniors' numbers consisiting of naughty toes and good toes were enjoyable with the use of senior school dancers keeping the numbers flowing in the guise of Mary Poppins and the like. I did have to keep wondering how they had room for the entire dance school back stage.
My favourite number in the whole show (although it is very difficult to pick when they were all so enjoyable) was the ballet to Roxanne (the Moulin Rouge version) - awesome! This was followed very closely by the audition piece from A Chorus Line although I don't know what that is called 'officially'!
Again it is hard to pick out a fabourite dancer from such a talented bunch but I have to comment on the astounding Rosanna Yeo who I haven't seen in anything for a few years. She has a great voice and has become a very talented dancer - quite worthy of a West End role.
I was suprised to see Nigel Brookes has become the schools Musical Theatre Director. The singing (with a couple of fantastic exceptions) was not quite as high a calibre as the dance - but by no means poor.
Summing up, I left the theatre feeling enthusiastic and thoroughly impressed by Dancing Feet.
A credit to everyone involved, particularly our own Gillian Hughes - AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!
