AGM-Header

The 2011 AGM was very successful - we think it had something to do with holding it in a bar!! Below are the minutes from the meeting. Thanks to everyone who came to be involved in the society.

AudioArtsLogoACT's Summer Season Show "What A Relief '11" included several funny video sequences, including a couple in which our members pre-recorded half a duet - while the other half was sung live during the show. One of these was our own gaggle of guys who came together to form "Make That!".

Rather than rely on a dodgy on-board camera's microphone to capture the boys' crooning, we turned to Kieran Hennessey to help us out in recording it properly... and he came up trumps!

The studio Kieran runs was built in Swimbridge as the hub for The Breaks Collective and has gained a reputation as the go-to studio in North Devon!

Equipped with some of the latest recording hardware and software, it has a modern approach within a laid back environment.

If you're looking to book a session, don't hesitate to drop a message to Kieran:

mark_mcgannYou may have seen a couple of articles on this site about some stage and screen masterclasses being held in Frome by Mark McGann. Well, back in August Jake, Ian & Joss signed up and went off to have their acting skills stretched.

Here's what went on...

After an early start we arrived at the Merlin Theatre in Frome not knowing what we'd let ourselves in for, so we spent a little time playing while we waited for the rest of the group to arrive. Mark showed up first and we were able to dispel the fear that he might be too 'arty', as he turns out to be a down-to-earth chap who loves performing.

The group consisted of 14 people from all kinds of thespy backgrounds - there was one couple who did nothing but local Pantomines, an older couple of ladies who had a long history of am-dram, a young couple who were keen as mustard and another lady who had travelled from London to take part with hopes of pursuing a professional career. And us.

So, who are 'ACT', and what happened to 'Braunton Productions'?

'Atlantic Coast Theatre' IS 'Braunton Productions'. Same people, same high standards and the same fun!

What has changed is that on 14th October 2009, at the Annual General Meeting, the membership voted unanimously to change the society's name. The decision was born out of a need to appeal to broader range of potential sponsors and from a desire to update our image.

Along with change of name we've also re-structured the way our committee and society work.

Our coming year sees the brilliant 'Footloose' in July, alongside a season at The Pavillion, workshops and plenty of fun and games for our members.

If you want to get involved, then drop us a line and become a member!
